Proligue | Ivry still leader, Sarrebourg and Caen are doing good business
No big change at the top of the Proligue standings this weekend. In the last places, on the other hand, we begin to see more clearly.
Like last week, facing Billère, Ivry had to fight to win Strasbourg. A small gap (25:24), in the end, which will amply satisfy the men of Sébastien Quintallet, who remain seated in their leader’s chair. Long led, even by six lengths in the first period, the Ivryans turned the situation around after the break, taking advantage of the multiple losses of Alsatian ball. And in a tight final, it was first captain Leo Martinez, then goalkeeper Mate Sunjic who offered the victory to theirs. Behind, there are only two formations at three lengths. Tremblay, who won without great difficulty against Villeurbanne (29:25) through the last five minutes without conceding a goal, and Dijon who got scared in front of Besancon (26:24). Once again, Wassim Helal distinguished himself with 18 parades in the Dijon cages.
Behind, Selestat lost ground by conceding a draw at home against Cherbourg (23:23). The Cherbourg residents have long been in the lead and still led by three goals with nine minutes remaining. But Tanguy Thomas and Hugo Pimenta helped the Alsatians to catch up again in the money-time. Massive took advantage of this Friday evening to enter the top five, thanks to his victory at Valence (28:26). Led by four lengths in the heart of the second act, the Essonniens were more lucid in the last moments, like Arthur Muller, top scorer of the meeting with seven goals. The Massicois take advantage of the new misstep of Pontault-Combault, beaten at home by Caen (27:26). This is the second misstep at home of the Pontellois, after that of a fortnight ago against Villeurbanne. Caen led for a long time, taking up to six lengths in advance, before stalling as the gong approached. But their goalkeeper Ales Santos (photo) was decisive, leaving two parades in the last minute to secure the victory for the Normans, who climb to ninth place.
They now point to a point of Billere, winner of Attractive (28:25), who hasn’t won for a month. In Béarn, Edu Fernandez’s men did not exist, taking a burst in the first quarter of an hour to score five goals, and never relevant. Despite Baptiste Gaillard’s seven goals, the Cavigal took the water, and only reduced the gap when the Béarnais eased off. The Niçois are now in twelfth place in the standings, tied with Sarrebourg, winner ofAngers (26:22). The Lorrainers are now four points ahead of the first relegation Strasbourg, Strasbourg. If the SCO started the match better, his goalkeeper Mohamed Aly highlighting himself, the good period did not last. In the wake of Dylan Grandjean, Sarrebourg increased the pace in the second half, while Ivan Panjan accumulated nine saves to help his partners. A 3-0 in the last moments sealed the deal, leaving the Angevins in place of the red lantern.
