Electrão awards Portuguese translator and infrastructure for actions in favor of the environment – O Jornal Económico
Lídia Nascimento was the winner of the first edition of the Faz Pelo Planeta movement by the waste management association Electrão. The 50-year-old English-German translator stood out as the main “Big Changer” among the various activists selected by the association.
According to the statement sent to readactions, the author of the book “Mar à Driva”, which in the last three years has collected around 150 cleaning actions per year, packaging, toys, fishing nets, medicines and even keys and with that removed from the Portuguese coast almost 30 tons of garbage. In addition to making a difference on the beaches, it also makes a difference in schools where it raises awareness in schools and promotes sustainable food, with a view to reducing the consumption of meat and fish.
Still in the category “Big Changer”, Movimento Faz Pelo da Electrão attributes two honorable mentions, to Carlos Dobreira and Miguel Lacerda. Carlos Dobreira if for the actions of dragging (combination of race with garbage return) in which it has been promoted since 2019. Miguel Lacerda, founder of Associação Cascaisea, dedicates his life to raising awareness of the problem of marine litter, with studies, books and training for children and adults with the objective to change mindsets.
In addition to individual figures, Electrão also rewarded the efforts of companies. In the category of “Corporate Changers”The award went to Infraestruturas de Portugal, due to the awareness-raising projects that we developed internally and for having collected the largest amount of waste for recycling, as provided for in the award’s regulations.
“The number of candidates for ‘big transformers’‘and’corporate exchangers‘has approached the 100 globally”, said director-general of Electrão, Pedro Nazareth, in the same note. “In 2022 we want to raise the bar and increase participation. Let’s go back to rewarding those who already do it for the planet, but with many new features. We want to leverage the change we need for a more sustainable planet”.
