Cold arrives in Portugal: Temperatures will drop across the country and bring snow to Serra da Estrela – Climate
The week begins with bad news for those who do not like cold days and who ask for a more generous coat: the maximum and minimum temperatures will drop across the country as of this Monday. The thermometers will go down due to a mass of polar cold that will reach the Iberian Peninsula, starting in the North.
Guarda and Castelo Branco are under yellow IPMA warning due to the possibility of snowfall, this when the white flakes have already fallen all day on Sunday in Serra da Estrela, so a white blanket is expected in the next few days. Guarda will even be the coldest district in the country this Monday, with a maximum of 6ºC and a minimum of 1ºC.
In Lisbon, a maximum temperature of 15ºC and a minimum temperature of 8ºC is expected. Porto will be a little cooler: a maximum will be 14ºC and a minimum of 7ºC.
In the Algarve, maximum temperatures drop by two degrees from Sunday to Monday, with no more than 17ºC. The minimum in Faro can reach 7ºC.
For Tuesday, another slight drop in temperature is expected across the country, particularly with regard to minimum temperatures. In Porto, thermometers will reach 5ºC, and in Lisbon, 8ºC.
On Tuesday, the districts with the lowest minimum will be Bragança, Guarda and Portalegre, where the thermometers go up to 1ºC.
