Almost 600 interned with covid-19 in Portugal
The country registered, in the last 24 hours, 2499 coverage cases and 11 deaths associated with the disease. There are 597 hospitalized, a number that has not been as high since 9 September.
The worsening of the epidemiological situation in the country is reported, this Sunday, not only in the high number of new infections but also in hospitalizations.
On a day when, usually, cases tend to decrease – because there is less testing at the weekend – there is a record of 2499 positives, 166 more than in the previous balance. It should also be noted that, compared to last Sunday, November 14 (when 1483 were counted), there are 1016 more positive cases.
It has been two and a half months since there have been so many hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 in Portugal. Today’s epidemiological bulletin reports 53 more infected needing hospital care, in a total of 597, a number that was not so high since the 9th of September.
There are now 89 patients in Intensive Care Units, one more face to the previous bulletin.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 18,321 people have died, 1,122,283 contracted the disease and 1,059,002 recovered, 541 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases rose to a total of 44,960: 1947 more than yesterday.
Once again, is the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley (LVT) accounting for most of the infected, 873, followed by the North, with 641, the Center with 593, the Algarve with 217, the Alentejo with 70, Madeira with 72 and the Azores with 33.
Of the eleven mortals, four were reported in LVT, with three in the Center, two in Alentejo, one in the Azores and another in Madeira. In terms of age groups, there are seven octogenarians, one in their 70s, two in their 60s and another in their 50s.
