Red Bull Salzburg and the false farewell to fans
Too little speed, many moves through the center and only a few top-class players: the initial phase at five degrees in Wals-Siezenheim was not heartwarming when Bullen trainer Matthias Jaissle returned.
In half two the picture changes and Salzburg found opportunities on the assembly line that they could not take advantage of.
Crazy series of goals breaks
After 43 home games, in which Salzburg scored every time, the subscription champion was without a goal celebration for the first time today in the game against the Südstädter despite 26 shots.
“It’s bitter today. We weren’t rewarded. I was very pleased with the way we played,” said Jaissle.
The happy dress rehearsal before the Champions League game on Tuesday at the French champions OSC Lille was thus missing.
5,821 fans in the last match with spectators
5,821 supporters, who took the last chance to visit a Salzburg home game, were only offered a lean football diet in the first section.
Aaronson twirls in vain
Only Brenden Aaronson, who first returned from the international trip from the United States shortly before the duel, made the fans’ pulse soar.
In minutes eleven, 15 and especially in the 19th, the US boy shone with good offensive actions.
In the 26th minute of the game, the youngster found the best chance in the first half, but Admira keeper Andreas Leitner was there and parried with a great reflex.
“I had a lot of scoring chances myself and didn’t use them, of course we should have had one. But we should have gotten a penalty as well. We forget that very quickly,” said Aaronson.
Penalty excitement for Adeyemi
The biggest spur happened shortly before the break: Niko Datkovic hit Adeyemi in the penalty area on the thigh, but referee Josef Spurny’s whistle remained silent. To everyone’s surprise, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) did not intervene either.
Bull coach Matthias Jaissle reacted after the break and replaced the pale Noah Okafor Junior Adamu.
“We created a lot of top-class chances. Perhaps then the luck in the match and the right decisions in front of the goal will be missing,” summarized Jaissle.
Camara and Adamu forgive
The bulls became more active after the break. The alleged 1-0 lead by Rasmus Kristensen (52nd) was rightly not given because of an offside position from the flanker Andreas Ulmer.
Mohamed Camara (61.) found the next top chance from the edge of the penalty area shortly afterwards, but the Malian missed the target by a very thin margin.
Salzburg lacked the necessary precision in the last third to achieve the redeeming lead. Junior Adamu (69.) did not get the ball past goalie Leitner – just like Aaronson. His degree is too central.
Goalless draw against Admira
Aaronson (77th) was the most dangerous man on the lawn, but could not turn away cheering when he scored his fifth chance. The US boy failed to hit the box when he tried to volley.
Herzog does not even look at the penalty situation
Substitute Benjamin Sesko (84th) had the decision on his feet shortly before the end. But in the manner of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the ball only landed on the upper goal net.
“To get a point against the best team in Austria by far, you have to be satisfied.
Of the Bulls’ 26 shots on goal, no attempt went into the mesh despite their oppressive superiority.
Bulls still unbeaten
The goalless draw was the draw for Salzburg this season. The Jaissle crew remains unbeaten in the Bundesliga today.

After the final whistle, captain Andreas Ulmer says goodbye to the fans over the stadium microphone: “Thank you for your support. Unfortunately we have to hold the rest of the games without you again.”
