San Marino. A project to start sport in the name of Bryan Toccaceli
The Attiva-Mente association presents a new project to start sports, born in the name of vice president Bryan Toccaceli, former San Marino motocross champion, who also became coach of Valentino Rossi’s VR46 Academy.
“With the strong hope that through the comparison the existing criticalities can be resolved and that the clouds that surround the Paralympic horizon of San Marino can be torn apart as soon as possible and, alternatively, that the constitution becomes clear in a clear way and in the light of the sun. of a new subject that proposes to meet the purposes of a National Paralympic Committee, the Executive Council of Attiva-Mente is pleased to present a project to initiate competitive sporting practice aimed at people with so-called very serious disabilities.
We are particularly proud of it because this initiative is in addition to the previous ones we have carried out in collaboration with the sports Federations of reference, but above all because it seems to us another strong message for anyone from our Vice President, Bryan Toccaceli not to get lost. soul, redeem yourself and bite life.
His is the approach to the Paralympic Boccia, let’s get to know it better:
The Paralympic bowl is a discipline similar to classic bowls but the rules of the game, the materials used and the spaces in which they are practiced are adapted to allow the accessibility of this sport to people with severe and very serious physical disabilities.
Practitioners can have brain injury and more in detail forms of spastic tetraparesis, ataxia, athetosis, dystonia or a form of physical disability not resulting from cerebral palsy such as ALS, muscular dystrophy, SMA and multiple amputations of the limbs.
This sport is practiced exclusively in a wheelchair and in the gym on a field, bordered by adhesive tape, 6 meters wide and 12.5 meters long. The bowls have a weight of 275 g, a circumference of 27 cm, are soft to the touch and are covered with imitation leather material, such as to allow greater grip and handling by the athletes.
Bryan falls into the BC3 category, that is, those who have a greater disability: failing to throw or kick the bowls on the pitch, they make use of the support of a slide, a pointer and an assistant who has their back to the field for the entire duration of the game. and doesn’t know how the game is developing.
The aim of the game is to bring as many balls of your color (red or blue) as close to the white ball (jack).
The discipline is practiced all over the world and at all levels up to the highest competition: the Paralympic Games.
It has been present in Italy for a few years and we are trying to make it known as much as possible as it is believed that it can dare a great opportunity to people who do not even think they can play sports.
Good luck!
This Initiative will be presented during the 2nd round of “Let’s build the future Paralympic of San Marino together” scheduled for Saturday 20 November at 10.30 at the Montelupo Hall in Domagnano.
