Chris Fearne Praises Malta’s Weekly Death Rate 0 As The World’s Highest Island
The Minister of Health of Malta praised the launch of a dedicated booster of the island as the island is at the top of the global ranking of deaths by COVID-19 weekly with 0 recent deaths.
“The boosters work! Let’s keep this going; when it’s your turn, take the booster, ”said Chris Fearne as he shared the results from a graph showing the average daily deaths per million people in various countries around the world.
At the bottom of the list, Indonesia and Japan rank best in 3rd and 2nd, with an average of less than one death – however Malta comes in with 0 deaths.
The chart, which utilizes information from Johns Hopkins University, takes into account the seven-day rolling averages of several countries.
Hospitals in Malta have now remained low for months – as they stand, only 16 people are in Mater Dei Hospital and two are being treated in the Intensive Care Unit.
Currently, the average age of a COVID-19 hospitalized patient is 61 years.
Malta is currently administering COVID-19 boosters to people over 70 years of age, immunosuppressed persons and healthcare workers. Teachers and school staff will start receiving booster shots from tomorrow while over-60s will follow suit in the coming weeks.
