Jurgen Klopp asks Liverpool FC to sign the 22-year-old Sweden striker
Jurgen Klopp has asked Liverpool FC to complete the signing of Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak as a potential alternative to Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe, according to a report in Spain.
Catalan media The National reports that the Liverpool FC coach is desperate to recruit a striker who is capable of playing as a traditional number nine.
The same article says that Klopp does not consider Divock Origi as part of his long-term plans at Anfield, so the Liverpool FC coach wants to recruit a proven midfielder.
According to the same story, neither Roberto Firmino nor Diogo Jota were suitable as goal strikers, so the Reds manager wants the Liverpool FC board to sign a new number nine.
The National claims that Liverpool FC is considering a concrete bid for the Swedish national team player and that the Premier League team would be willing to pay up to 40 million euros for Isak.
The Catalan newspaper reveals that FC Barcelona were previously candidates to recruit Isak after the La Liga giants developed an interest in the Swedish midfielder during the summer.
Sergio Aguero’s arrival ended FC Barcelona’s interest in signing Isak, according to history.
Isak has scored three goals and has made an assist in 10 matches in La Liga.
The 22-year-old has scored 38 goals in 101 appearances in all competitions during the last three seasons for Real Sociedad.
Former Liverpool FC defender Jose Enrique called on the Reds to sign Isak during the summer after his strong performances for Sweden at the European Championships 2020.
“I know him very well because he plays for Real Sociedad,” wrote Enrique his Instagram page. “He is a top player, I will definitely recruit him and I am really young so hopefully we can go for him if we can not go for Haaland or anyone like that.”
