In Slovakia, there are 58 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment
Despite the fact that, after 25 years of imprisonment, anyone sentenced to life imprisonment could be sentenced to life by a single court, so far no competent court has ruled that such a prisoner should be released.
“The court may release a convicted person on parole if the convicted person in the execution of his sentence by performing his or her duties and proving his or her conduct has proven that he or she may not be tall enough to lead a proper life in the future. When deciding on a conditional release, the court shall also take into account the nature of the crime committed. A person sentenced to life imprisonment may be released on parole at the earliest after 25 years of imprisonment, if sentenced, and his or her personality does not threaten a repeat offense or similar offense,“Said a ZVJS spokeswoman.
According to her, the institute will prepare an evaluation to meet the conditions for the conditional release of the convict. The assessment of the requested court on the request for conditional release of the convicted person contains, in addition to personal data, also stated in the court judgment and data proving the state of fulfillment of the conditions for conditional release.
“The evaluation of the institute is only one of the treasures of the court’s decision, and the evaluation is not bound by the court in its decision-making. a court decision delivered on the conditional release of one of the persons sentenced to life imprisonment,“Kacvinská emphasized.
At the end of last week, there were a total of 10,281 prisoners in Slovak prisons. Of these, 8,804 were convicted and 1,477 were charged.
