Felling work for the 380kV line begins – salzburg.ORF.at
timeline
On Wednesday trees for the 380 kV overhead line are to be felled on the Nockstein near Koppl (Flachgau). At least the work of the client, the Verbund subsidiary APG. However, it is not yet clear when exactly the masts will be erected.
Actually, the helicopter should have been flying on the rock ridge between Koppl and the Nockstein as early as Tuesday morning to remove cut tree trunks. But that has been canceled because of the low fog.
Use of helicopters necessary due to steep terrain
The next attempt is to take place on Wednesday, according to the Austrian Power Grid APG. The use of a helicopter is necessary because of the steep terrain. The tree trunks are flown to a storage area below. The trees on the ridge will now be felled in late autumn because, according to official requirements, this is only allowed in November and December, says an APG spokesman. The trunks are cut at a height of around one and a half meters so that the slope can continue to hold the snow. After the construction work has been completed, the area is to be reforested.
The schedule for the construction of the masts is still being worked out
When the two high-voltage pylons suspected at the Nockstein will actually be erected, however, is still unclear: the schedule is still being worked out, according to the APG. But it will take some time. The mast directly on the rock ridge of the Nockstein is a special construction. Of the 450 pylons of the 380 kV line between Elixhausen (Flachgau) and Kaprun (Pinzgau), 180 pylons have already been completed – mainly Innergebirg, south of the Lueg Pass.
