Slovakia supports the EU Strategic Compass initiative
TASR was informed about this by the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic Martina Kovaľ Kakaščíková.
“The EU’s Strategic Compass is intended to guide us in difficult times, also in terms of defense and security, and through common tools and procedures. However, its effectiveness depends on the unity of the EU and the will of individual Member States to participate in it. Slovakia is committed to this initiative and is actively involved in discussions in favor of quality output for all of us. “ said Nad.
The aim of the meeting was a political discussion between the ministers, in which they assessed the draft Strategic Compass submitted by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The current draft of this document on the direction of the EU in the field of security and defense is based on an almost annual discussion of member states, during which more than 30 thematically focused input of member states were submitted, with the Slovak Republic also signing up for several.
The strategic compass will be the subject of further discussions, next in the European Council negotiations.
