Salzburg: Highest level of intensive care patients for the year | PULSE 24
With 1,870 cases, a new record number of new infections was registered in the state of Salzburg on Monday. With 12,722 people, never before have so many people been actively infected with the virus at the same time. The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 is also reflected in the occupancy of the hospitals: On Monday morning, probably 199 corona patients in Salzburg will be treated in the hospital, more than ever this year. 31 of them were in intensive care.
Seven-day incidence already at 1,519.7
The upward trend in hospital stays will continue in the coming days due to the high number of new infections and the low vaccination rate, predicts the head of the state statistics, Gernot Filipp, in a broadcast from the country. From today’s perspective, the seven-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants in the state is likely to fluctuate between 1,700 and 2,100 in a week. For today’s Monday, AGES reported a value of almost 1,520 – a sad Austrian record.
The situation in the intensive care units is also critical in Upper Austria. Nurse Dino Atic from the Wels Grieskirchen Clinic speaks to PULS 24 about his experiences.
In addition to its efforts to get more people to have their first vaccination, the country is now also focusing on booster vaccinations. Who can vaccinate, how, when, where and why, is the content of a comprehensive campaign with advertisements, online advertising, radio spots and posters.
“The corona vaccination works. You can still pick up your first, second or third dose at an appointment at an ordination or in Impfstraße. The offers for corona vaccination in Salzburg are possible with and without registration and have been extended to Sunday.
