Toulouse qualified in pain, Caen eliminated … all the results of the 7th round
Ligue 2 clubs participated this weekend in the 7th round of the Coupe de France. Four residents of the second division, including Caen, were eliminated as soon as they entered the competition.
Who to succeed PSG, winner last May of its 14th title in the Coupe de France? Maybe a second division club. With the exception of Niort, excluded from the competition by decision of the DNCG, all the Ligue 2 clubs started their journey in the event this weekend in the seventh round. And on arrival, four residents of L2 fell by the wayside: Pau, AC Ajaccio, Dunkirk and Caen.
Author of a fabulous feat against OM last season, the Canet-Roussillon FC team has this time eliminated Pau. The N2 players won after a thrilling penalty shootout (2-2, 3-2 tab) against Pau.
Dinan-Léhon’s exploit against Caen
But the feat of the weekend is probably the superb qualification of the Bretons of Dinan-Léhon against the Normans of Caen (1-1, 4-1 tab). After scoring quickly, the Costa Ricans were able to stay focused despite the Caen equalizer in the last minutes of the match.
Ajaccio eliminated, Toulouse was scared
Third in Ligue 2, the Corsicans of AC Ajaccio were surprised at home by Orléans, resident of National 1, again after a suspenseful match concluded with a penalty shootout (0-0, 4-3 tab) . In the fight to maintain L2, Dunkirk had another complicated weekend with an elimination on the lawn of Linas-Montlhery (1-0).
Leader of the second division, after fifteen days, Toulouse trembled against Libourne Saint-Seurin. TFC finally won on penalties after a draw (0-0, 3-1 tab). Isak Pettersson, usual number 2 in Toulouse goals, saved his team by stopping three attempts by the Gironde club. Libourne may have regrets, the residents of N3 were very close to the feat.
