Important filmmakers such as Chloé Zhao, the Safdie brothers or Greta Gerwig will be highlighted.
Cinema São Jorge, in Lisbon, will host the Outsiders cycle – dedicated to independent American films that, for one reason or another, have never premiered in Portugal. This initiative, which runs from November 30th to December 8th, is organized by the Luso-American Foundation for Development (FLAD).
In all, there will be 22 films – 14 feature films and eight short films, which premiered between 2006 and last year. Featured for “The pilot”, in Chloe Zhao, filmmaker who won the Oscar for Best Achievement for the work he did in “Nomadland – Surviving in America”. Recently, he directed the mega production of Marvel “Eternals”.
The brothers benny and Josh Safdie, authors of “Rough Diamond” and “Good Time”, will have a series of short films on display. And you will also be able to see, for example, “Tiny furniture”, which was written, performed and carried out by Lena Dunham. Another of Outsiders productions is “Nights and weekends”, directed by Greta Gerwig and Joe Swanberg (who will be present at the event). The schedule will be available on the local of Cinema São Jorge.
