caught red-handed by the police
According to what is learned from a note from the Verona police headquarters, the agents of the state police officers arrested a 53-year-old Romanian citizen yesterday, Thursday 11 November, on charges of “attempted aggravated theft”. The latter, explains the police, was “caught in broad daylight in an orchard with a sack full of stolen fruit.”
The man, according to the reconstruction of the facts provided by the police, would have cycled to the orchard around 12.30, at which point he would have therefore “opened a passage in the metal fence using a wire cutter” and would then have “entered the bottom, where he violently tore the fruit from the branches, damaging some of them beyond repair ยป.
At the end of the investigations, the man who, according to what is learned, is also known to the police for numerous precedents of home thefts, robberies, evasion, injuries and resistance to a Public Official, was finally arrested for already aggravated theft. The loot, equivalent to “more than 20 kg of fruit”, was returned to the owner of the field. This morning, at the outcome of the very direct rite, the judge validated the arrest and ordered the measure of the ban on staying in Verona.
