Economou: “On Monday we will proceed with the order of private doctors”
“We have 1277 intensive care beds out of 557 we had in 2019. In many cases there are waiting times in hospitals that have ICUs until it is decided whether the patient is allowed to be transferred to other available ICUs. “Unfortunately, this is not allowed and they are intubated either in Intensive Care Units where the infrastructure exists, or in surgical beds, until it is decided whether it is allowed to go to the hospital where there is an ICU, or to empty one in the same,” said government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou. his interview on the TV station “Alpha”
He clarified that in emergencies no one is intubated, he is in the MAF and in the surgical beds. “There is no person who should be intubated and not intubated in a bed that meets the conditions if ICU is not available,” he said, adding that “there is a battle every day in the NSS hospitals.”
“A huge effort is being made to utilize the available bed, we are doing things in this direction, we have at our disposal all the ICUs and the private sector for non covid cases, we are constantly adding beds to hospitals for treatment, covid treatment and other treatments ” he said.
The government spokesman also says that on Monday, if the areas registered in the NSS have not been covered by private doctors over the weekend, they will proceed with the order of private doctors. “There is a need for pulmonologists, for physicians, for general practitioners. “Everything that is needed to strengthen the NSS that we will do without calculating the cost, because there is a big battle and our effort has as a priority to reduce human losses as much as possible,” he underlined.
