Portugal issued 1000 million debt
One billion of long-term debt were issued, with 686 million in 10-year treasury bonds (OT) and the remaining 314 million in 16-year treasury bonds, the maximum amount in the range that had been announced. The 10-year bonds yielded 0.314% and the 16-year bonds yielded 0.622%.
“The European Central Bank has started the process of slowing down purchases in the pandemic emergency purchase program, which initially led to a rise in yields, but which appears to have stabilized. Higher rates are expected for 2022, but that will depend on the performance of the ECB, as well as the performance of low economies, which have greatly contributed to the reduction in the average cost of Portuguese debt”, says Filipe Silva of Banco Carregosa.
The IGCP had already disclosed that the maturities of the OTs to be auctioned would be on October 17, 2031 (about 10 years) and April 15, 2037 (about 16 years).
