COVID-19 in Ukraine: more than 13 thousand new patients, 473 people died from injuries

On March 3, 2020, the first case of coronavirus COVID-19 infection was recorded in Ukraine. Infected correctors of the Chernivtsi region, who arrived from Italy with his wife. On March 20, it became known that he was recovering.
The first death from coronavirus in Ukraine was recorded on March 13, 2020: a 71-year-old woman died in a hospital in Radomyshl. She returned from Lviv to Poland on March 1, and then went to Zhytomyr Region.
Quarantine restrictions in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ukraine were introduced on March 12, 2020.
On March 17-18, Ukraine closed its borders, stopped subway traffic, intercity and interregional passenger traffic, imposed restrictions on the operation of service and trade facilities, relocated to settlements, and established liability for violating them.
From April 6, the government tightened quarantine measures and further adjusted them.
On April 22, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the quarantine until May 11, after which it eased it somewhat, but extended the remaining quarantine restrictions.
On May 11, quarantine restrictions in Ukraine began to ease. On May 20, the government introduced adaptive quarantine until June 22.
On May 23, land public transport was launched in Kyiv as usual, and on May 25, the metro was launched.
The next stages of quarantine easing in Ukraine began on June 5, and then on June 10. The government’s June 17 decision extended the adaptive quarantine until July 31. Later it was extended until the end of the summer.

On August 27, the Cabinet of Ministers extended the quarantine, but renounced strict restrictions throughout Ukraine.
On November 11, 2020, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal announced that instead of adaptive quarantine, the government would return to general and also introduce a strict “weekend quarantine.” This practice was stopped on December 5, but the authorities announced an “intellectual lockdown” – from 8 to 24 January 2021.
On January 25, 2021, Ukraine returned to the quarantine restrictions that applied in December 2020.
On March 25, the Ministry of Health renewed the division into quarantine zones: Kyiv and 10 oblasts were in the “red” zone. The hard lockdown has resumed in Kyiv on April 5 – the subway and other public transport can be reached only with special passes.
From May 1, Kyiv relaxed the quarantine. On May 7, the Ministry of Health stated that the situation in Ukraine had stabilized, after which there were no oblasts left in the “red” zone.
In August, the government will extend the quarantine restrictions until October 1, 2021, and then until December 31.
On September 23, the whole of Ukraine moved from the “yellow” zone to the epidemic zone, but with changes in opportunities for the vaccinated.
On October 29, only two “yellow” areas remained, the rest – “red” and “orange”. Kyiv returned to the “red” zone on November 1.
