ICE Hockey League: Salzburg returns the favor to the KAC, Caps Siegen – Winter Sports – Ice Hockey
In the 17th round of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, the EC Red Bull Salzburg will return the favor in Klagenfurt for the 3-2 defeat in the penalty shoot-out three weeks ago.
This time the Bulls have the better end on their side against the KAC after a 3-2 in overtime.
In a hard-fought game, the KAC quickly took the lead 2-0 with a double pack of one hundred pounds (5th, 19th). After Borzecki’s goal (27th), Fraser awards a penalty (29th). He fails because of Tolvanen.
Practically in return, Nissner managed to equalize the bulls (30th). After that, no more hits want to fall and it goes into overtime. In this, Brennan is once again the match winner for the Salzburg team. It is completed by the legs of Dahm (62nd).
Matt McIlvane’s team climbed to third place in the table (32 points), the KAC remained eighth (25 points).
Caps end Innsbruck series
The Vienna Capitals beat HC Innsbruck in the duel of the best-form teams in the league away with 3: 2. While Die Haie have to accept the first defeat after their last seven victories in a row, the capital city-dwellers are victorious for the sixth time in a row.
After a fast-paced first third, in which the Viennese found a slight increase in chances, they finally take the lead in the 25th minute through Meyer. It is also the Dane who made it 2-0 with a remarkable solo effort (34).
In the 49th minute, Meyer finally tied up his hat trick when he sank the puck into the goal in the Caps’ first and only power play. The Haie start a final offensive in the last minutes and come back through Bourque (59th) and Messner (60th).
The remaining 14 seconds are no longer enough to compensate.
After this victory, the Viennese keep their place in the top 6 and extend their lead over seventh-placed VSV to three points. Innsbruck, on the other hand, has to surrender third place to Salzburg.
