- The self-sacrificing newcomer Ajoie corrected a 3-0 deficit in Geneva and made the perfect turnaround in the penalty shoot-out.
- Bern aggravated the crisis of HC Lugano thanks to late goals. Ambri, the second representative from Ticino, loses out against Davos.
Train – Lakers 0-3
In the duel of the formally strong, Rapperswil-Jona was able to dup the EV Zug in its home ground in front of a sold out crowd. The game in the Bossard Arena was just 22 seconds old when EVZ goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni had to reach behind him for the first time. Jeremy Wick was responsible for the Rosenstädter’s lightning start by means of a high-corner shot. Rajan Sataric added his first goal of the season in the 10th minute.
At the latest when Wick again made it 3-0 for the guests in the 47th minute, the resistance of the Central Swiss was broken. The fifth in the table celebrated the 6th victory in a row with a 3-0 win – and in return stopped the 8-game series of successes of the champions. The icing on the cake for the Lakers: Noël Bader (25) in goal came to his first NL shutout thanks to 38 saves.
Geneva – Ajoie 3: 4 nP
An overly arrogant Geneva servette negligently gambled away a 3-0 lead against Ajoie, which lasted until the 45th minute. But then the newcomer blew a remarkable comeback, which he deservedly refined in the penalty shoot-out. Sebastian Wannström played a decisive role in the return of the Jurassier, who scored to make it 2: 3 and equalized the score in the 56th minute. The Swede also shone as a shooter in the shootout.
Bern – Lugano 3: 1
In a test of strength between two arch-rivals, the SCB skilfully put away the bankruptcy of the previous evening (2: 6 at Biel) against HC Lugano and booked its points 9 to 11 from the last 5 games. Shortly before the second break, the Canadian Christian Thomas brought his “hats” into the lead. Ramon Untersander had launched his teammate brilliantly in front of the goal. A double strike from Jan Neuenschwander (56th) and Mika Henauer (57th) within 26 seconds for the 3-0 lead of Ticino Matteo Nodari with the prompt connection goal. For the team of the counted Chris McSorley there was nothing more to do with the gang – the 5th bankruptcy de suite was sealed shortly afterwards.
Ambri – Davos 2: 3
With victory number 4 in the series, HC Davos has reached the Leventina after the tough 3-2 work success. Even more impressive: the team from Landwassertal scored for the 12th time in a row. Dario Bürgler gave his colors a tailor-made start with the 1-0 after 167 seconds. But Enzo Corvi found an answer to this before the first siren sounded. In the middle third, the people of Graubünden gave a leadership prize for their part. The field decision in the hectic third third, when the Swedish top scorer Mathias Bromé (56th) shot the away team in the front again – also for the next three and for the first time this season to the top.
The championship is now suspended for 10 days and will resume on November 16th. In the meantime, the national team meets for the first time in the Olympic season and competes against Russia, Slovakia and the host in the Germany Cup.
