The Swedish coach gives his verdict on Victor Lindelof’s “minor injury”
Sweden coach announces verdict on Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof’s “minor injury”
According to Fotboll Skanalen (h / t Sports witness), Janne Andersson, Sweden’s national team manager, expects Victor Lindelöf to “get in shape soon” after suffering a knock at Manchester United training.
Manchester United’s squad went to Italy to compete against Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League match without their midfielder Victor Lindelof. Later Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team hinted that he got a slap in the face in training and could not be of much help in Italy. So he was left in Manchester for treatment.
The news was not a good sign for Solskjaer’s team, but his concerns from his home country were much greater. Sweden will play Georgia and Spain in the World Cup qualifiers later this month, and they would need the help of their captain to achieve better results on the pitch.
After announcing Sweden’s squad that included Lindelof, the 59-year-old manager has shared details of the injury with the reporters.
“I talked to Victor yesterday. He was not worried. It’s a minor injury. There we are, and then you never know. But he was not worried that way, so that conversation felt good.”
Victor Lindelöf represented his nation’s senior team 47 times. The Manchester United star is currently one of the most important players in his national team and the key to their defense. So, of course, the national team manager was worried about the availability of the 27-year-old defender.
After a conversation with the former Benfica player, the manager was able to get an overall picture of the incident and found out how serious the injury was.
