Feared Marta. Record vaccinations in Portugal are the result of “citizens who trust each other”

Marta Temido attributes the success of vaccination in Portugal to the population, who trust “in their institutions and inoculation programs”. The minister of Health participated, this Wednesday afternoon, in a Web Summit panel dedicated to the theme of vaccination in the country.
Portugal is currently the “most vaccinated country in the world”, As the title of the conference in which the Minister of Health participated on the third day of the largest technological conference in the world indicates. The Web Summit runs until Thursday, at the Altice Arena, in Lisbon.
“The work of the health curtains was also extraordinary, everyone cooperated in order to achieve these results. This is a result of citizens who trust each other”, said Marta Temido during the conversation.
In total, in Portugal, more than 8.8 million people (86% of the population eligible for vaccination) are already fully immunized and more than 9 million people (87%) have already received at least one dose.
Another record recorded on Tuesday concerns the age group of the youngest. According to the weekly vaccination report, released on Tuesday by the Directorate-General for Health, 90% of Portuguese young people between 18 and 24 years old are already vaccinated against Covid-19.
“We need to reward professionals”
CUF Executive President Rui Diniz, who was also present at the panel, considered the “fight the pandemic the most challenging event in CUF’s history. “It cannot be stressed enough how much people who work in hospitals, private or public, worked.”
“We learned that only with the involvement of everyone we can fight a disease like this. All went to this with a common goal. We must always keep this in mind”, he stressed.
With the majority of the population vaccinated, the Minister of Health underlined that the fights are now different, but without forgetting that the pandemic is not over yet. “We are at a different stage, but we are still facing something that is new ”, reinforced.
“The recognize recognize all the professionals who were on the front line. And now? We need to reward these professionals, because they are very tired and exhausted”, stressed the minister.
For Marta Feared, it is fundamental attempt to “retain professionals” who are now trying to “move to other sectors”, due to the exhaustion caused by the work of the last few months. “The pandemic is not over yet, we need them.”
According to the executive president of CUF, the most critical point currently goes through “Look at other illnesses and make up for lost time”.
It is the fifth time that the biggest technological summit in the world opens its doors in Lisbon. The event takes place at the Altice Arena, between the 1st and 4th of November, after, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition took place entirely online.
Participants must provide a certificate of vaccination or a negative test to Covid-19.
