The game almost started with a déjà vu from Salzburg’s 3-1 home win two weeks ago. Karim Adeyemi appeared in the second minute in front of the opposing goal, in contrast to the first leg, where he had scored in the third minute, the German shot next to the goal. In the third minute, however, someone hit, Ridle Baku pushed in after a good cross to give the hosts an early lead.
After half an hour, the people of Mozart town came to compensate. Maximilian Wöber flicked a free kick over the wall, Koen Casteels didn’t look good and had to fish the ball out of the net. Even after the break, Adeyemi had another great opportunity early on, but also set this chance next to the goal. After an hour die Wolfsburg skilfully switched, Nmecha slammed the ball into the near corner. Benjamin Sesko had the last noteworthy chance for the guests: Casteels was able to defend his seamless shot over the gate, the defeat for Salzburg was sealed.
