Bordeaux 80s and novö-rock?

The word “modern” haunts the end of the seventies, and becomes the banner of a generation. In a few seasons, underground rock will experience breakthroughs for all audiences. Behind the ambivalences of the 80s, the era thus discovers a trendy youth, with unique creativity, which today enjoys an international echo. Between the French New Wave and Bordeaux (with its many clubs, guitar groups and rock-society), how did modern young people, long invisible, embodied a romantic-aesthetic, night-owl and innovative movement, in all cultural fields? Meeting around local bands, from Strychnine 1977 to Gamine and Kid Pharaon at the end of the 80’s, on the tremendous emergence of bars-rock, the emblematic “Snap Shot” compilation, real rock’n’roll in fanzines… all the peculiarities and free areas of the underground rock city of Bordeaux.
