Triumph 4-1 over Novasemente GD
Three weeks after the last match, Sporting Clube de Portugal’s female futsal team returned to action this Saturday, defeating Novasemente GD by 4-1 in the fifth round of the first phase of the National Championship. Débora Venâncio (two), Carolina Pedreira and Cristina Fonseca scored the goals of a hard-earned triumph at the João Rocha Pavilion. Still undefeated, as Lionesses of Márcio Marcelino continued a one hundred percent victorious start to the season, totaling the full in the competition with five victories.
Alvalade’s group presented Cristina Fonseca, Débora Queiroz, Débora Venâncio, Carolina Pedreira and Ana Alves in the first five. The visiting team started out more dangerous, but a goalkeeper Cristina Fonseca was always attentive to Leonina nets. Sporting CP’s most effective team, which culminated in a quick collective play with the 1-0, pointed out by captain Débora Venâncio, who only had to pull over at the far post.
In a very divided match, Novasemente GD hopes to react, taking possession of the ball and reaching an equalizer through Martinha with less than eight minutes before half-time. Even before the break, Cristiana Gonçalves had the opportunity to replace Leoas in the lead, but shot the figure from the free-kick.
On the restart, the Lionesses started better: Inês Lima hit the goal with danger and Inês Pombo tried a direct corner, but both attacks would be stopped. Then, Novasemente GD rebalanced the game, but the green and white guardian also responded accordingly.
Despite several opportunities, neither team was able to break the tie, until Carolina Pedreira’s left foot appeared. Sporting CP’s shirt number ten filled his foot and, from outside the area, he fired hard and placed it for 2-1 – much celebrated both on and off the pitch.
The visiting team would bet everything on the forward goalkeeper, but it would be Alvalade’s team to equip the empty goal: first Débora Venâncio and then goalkeeper Cristina Fonseca scored from one side of the court to the other, confirming the green victory and white for 4-1. With this result, Alvalade’s team reaches the full 15 points in the championship and in the next round will visit CR Golpilheira, on November 6th.
