Cologne – New light at the train station in Cologne trinkets! The city Cologne has re-lit the bridge underpass together with RheinEnergie.
Headlights have been shining turquoise on the bridge arches since Thursday.
The bridge thus joins the city’s lighting concept and is now similar to some of the other bridges that have been illuminated in Cologne for years.
According to the announcement, special LED headlights were built into the 36-meter-long and 20-meter-wide bridge. The new lighting concept cost 54,000 euros.

With the lighting, the city administration will also improve the security of Cologne residents.
Patric Stieler, Head of the Office for Traffic Management, said: “Passages under railway systems and roads are regularly discussed when it comes to the feeling of security in our city.”
And further: “Here at Nippes station there is also an entrance and exit to the S-Bahn and a transfer stop for bus traffic, where an improvement in the lighting situation is required.”
Further bridges and locations in Cologne could follow in the future and also be illuminated in turquoise. The planning is currently underway.
