Ente Cassa Faetano presents the first dictionary of the San Marino dialect
Safeguard and pass on the language of tradition, heritage made up of words, images, sounds for a world that is in danger of extinction. It is in collaboration with the Democratic Recreational Club of Corianino that Cassa di Faetano publish the first Dictionary of San Marino dialect. Monumental project, over six years of work, 3,310 Italian words corresponding to 5,855 dialect terms, for a total of over 9,000 entries, 580 popular sayings and idiomatic phrases, insights into personal names, places, typical dishes and trades. Many guests, even connected; in the room, the Secretary of Culture Andrea Belluzzi and representatives of the world of culture and school.
From the curator, Graziano Bartolini, retraced the genesis of the work, recalling the collaborators in the drafting, in particular, Stefano Palmucci And “Checco” Guidi, who collected and revised terms of Città Serravalle. Introductory essays by prominent authors: from the Vice President of the Institute Fredrich Schurr, Gilberto Casadio, which did illustrate what it is the origin dand the dialects; to the expert in languages and glottology Alex Michelotti, with an in-depth study to understand the complexity of the San Marino dialects, in the many differences, albeit between limited and closely connected areas; as far as Valentina Rossi, teacher and expert of San Marino history, on the role of the dialect in the culture of the Republic and the importance of safeguarding it. A text that maintains a simple approach, written imagining as a user like a child who knows nothing of dialect.
