Almost only corona-unvaccinated people in Salzburg’s intensive care unit
First of all, the most important numbers of the day die: 62,020 people were or are so far infected with Covid-19 in Salzburg, an increase of 361 compared to Wednesday.Currently, 3,491 people are actively infected in the state, a total of 620 people have died due to a corona infection . 76 corona patients are currently in the hospital, twelve of them in the intensive care unit. The state of Salzburg reported this in a broadcast.
Almost every ICU patient is not vaccinated
Due to the sharp rise in the number of cases, however, a delayed, significant increase in Covid patients in hospitals is expected. Of the twelve corona patients in Salzburg’s intensive care units, according to Primaria Uta Hoppe, spokeswoman for the medical crisis team, currently nine and three quarters are not vaccinated. The remaining three are immunosuppressed.
Corona vaccination offers protection
“We last had similarly high infection numbers as in the last few weeks at the end of November 2020, at the end of the second wave. However, I expect further infections in the medium term, and the peak has not yet been reached,” said Gernot Filipp from the Salzburg State Statistics. “There is one big difference to last autumn, however: the vaccination. But since this protection is not used by many, the values are still high and very dynamic and relatively stable,” says Filipp.
Unvaccinated with four times the incidence
The corona vaccination started in Salzburg at the beginning of January 2020, the effect of the immunization can also be seen in the incidences. “The unvaccinated population, with a 7-day incidence of around 830, is more than four times as high as the vaccinated”, says Filipp and he adds: “The 7-day incidences according to age are still strongly dependent on the respective vaccination coverage The group most severely affected, however, continues to be those between the ages of ten and under 19, with an incidence of 940. “
Pinzgau at the front for vaccination, Tennengau at the bottom
As of today, 60.1 percent of the total population of Salzburg are fully immunized. In terms of districts, the Pinzgau) is best (62.8 percent), the Lungau (61.6 percent), the city of Salzburg (59.7 percent), the Flachgau (59.4 percent) and the Tennengau (55 , 4 percent).
Vaccination rate: large regional differences
For months it has been observed that the vaccination rate is decisive for the infection situation. The big differences are also noticeable. While Krispl has some catching up to do with 49.6 percent of the total population being fully immunized, Dienten has significantly more at 84.6 percent.
Countries are not planning to tighten the corona
The rapidly increasing number of corona infections hardly contest some of the countries. While Styria presented new rules the day before, Upper Austria and Salzburg the FFP2 mask requirement …
The current vaccination rates: Krispl 49.6 percent, St. Koloman 49.8 percent, Scheffau 54.4 percent, Muhr im Lungau 54.9 percent and St. Georgen 57.6 percent bring up the rear. In contrast, Dienten 84.6 percent, Rauris 81.3 percent, Fusch an der Glocknerstrasse 81.3 percent, Lend 78.4 percent and Weißpriach 78.1 percent have the highest vaccination rates.
Most new infections in Tennengau and Flachgau
“According to districts, the main focus of infection is in Tennengau and Flachgau, but the upward trend is also evident in the other districts,” emphasizes the state statistician. In the Tennengau the 7-day incidence is 659, in the Flachgau 622, the Pongau with 436 quickly corresponds to the national average. Below that, but with sustained increases, are the city of Salzburg with 321, the Lungau with 288 and the Pinzgau with 191.
Exit controls in Salzburg municipalities
There are currently exit restrictions in the three Tennengau high incidence communities of St. Koloman, Annaberg-Lungötz and Adnet. Their effect is not yet apparent in St. Koloman, the measures are already taking effect in the other two locations, and the situation is constantly being reassessed by the health authorities.
