Post-Covid recovery and migration on the agenda of the 41st session of Congress
The Congress of local and regional authorities will hold its 41st session, from 26 to 28 October 2021, for the first time in person in Strasbourg since Covid-19 pandemic.
In the context of the health crisis, the Congress will hold a debate on the different levers of the “Post-Covid Recovery” with Carlo Monticelli, appointed Governor of the Council of Europe Development Bank, and Ulrik Vestergaard Knudsen, Secretary General Deputy of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The challenges of migration issues will be addressed in two debates: “Regions and Diaspora” and “Migration: permanent challenges for cities and regions”, with the participation of Ambassador Drahoslav Štefánek, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of the ‘Europe on migration and refugees, and Erini Dourou, Congress rapporteur on migration issues.
Other invited personalities include Albania’s Deputy Interior Minister Romina Kuko, Cyprus Interior Minister, Nicos Nouris, Hungarian State Secretary for Security Policy, Péter Sztáray, the Minister of Territorial Affairs of North Macedonia Goran Milevski, and Miryam Alvarez Páez, Secretary General for Territorial Coordination of Spain.
The ceremony of the 7th edition of Dosta! – Congress Prize will also take place. The prize is awarded to the municipalities of Torres Vedras (Portugal), Argostoli (Greece) and Salford (United Kingdom) for their initiatives to ensure the inclusion of Roma and Travelers.
