MOTOGP, BATHROOM IN POLE: HIGHLIGHTS – TV GUIDE
“I’m happy for all the conditions, despite the complicated qualifying”. Sam Lowes smiles for the seventeenth pole position, the sixth this year. The Briton confirms himself as a specialist in the wet, with the system now being excluded from the fight for the title, after a scorching start to the championship (two victories in the first two races). Too bad also because the protagonists of this season will not start from the front for once. Raul Fernandez will start from the ninth square in the third row, after having slipped at the end of the turn, Remy Gardner indeed two rows further back, with the fourteenth time. But on a day where fourteen riders crashed, nothing was taken for granted. Not even that the protagonists of the house ended up so far away: twentieth Fabio Di Giannantonio, twentyfourth Marco Bezzecchi.
Vietti 5th, Manzi in the third row
Better than the Italians, surprisingly, it is therefore Celestino Vietti placed in the second row with the fifth time. The only satisfaction for the Moto2 public, on a winter day conditioned by the sometimes wet asphalt and low temperatures that in Moto2 (also due to the tires not always up to par with the rain) become particularly critical. Congratulations also to Stefano Manzi, able to place himself in the third row with the seventh time. The other compatriots have all ended up far behind. The first row of Navarro e Augusto Fernandez, alongside Lowes, however, does not arouse great interest, because the duel for the title will still be the main theme of the race. Between the two teammates there are only nine points of difference and tomorrow they could be reduced again. Arithmetic does not cut out Bezzecchi (who follows behind 56 points) but his position on the grid does not authorize optimism. Even if tomorrow the weather could turn nice and restore some confidence in his garage.
