The progress of the optical fiber laying project for the FTTH broadband network was presented
The progress of the FTTH fiber optic project, launched in January 2016, was presented this morning at the Secretariat of State for Labor and Relations with the AASS in the presence of the Secretary of State for Labor Teodoro Lonfernini, the Sole Administrator of Cotes SpA – the company entrusted with the project – Pier Giovanni Terenzi and the Director of the Autonomous State Company for Public Services (AASS) Raoul Chiaruzzi. Connectivity on FFTH networks, which the territory of the Republic of San Marino is equipping itself with, improves the user experience and, thanks to stability and greater bandwidth, it perfectly meets the most recent needs related to streaming applications, work from home , video conferences, cloud services. The castles of Serravalle, Domagnano, Borgo Maggiore, San Marino City (Centro Storico), Fiorentino and part of Chiesanuova and Montegiardino are already served by the FFTH service for a total of about 17,500 users out of a total of 23,000 in the territory of the Republic, corresponding to about 75% of users. The average coverage of European countries is around 50% (41% in neighboring Italy). In these areas it is always possible to access the contribution for the construction of the vertical climb by presenting the installer with a copy of the internet service activation contract signed with one of the licensed operators. The users with active service on the FTTH technology network owned by AASS are now more than 3,000 units, with a market penetration that is estimated to exceed 20% of services on broadband networks in the Republic of San Marino, in line with the European average (in Italy the figure is around 10%). Based on current forecasts, the entire territory coverage project will be completed by February 2023.
Teodoro Lonfernini (Secretary of State for Labor): “It is a pleasure to be here today to inform the public that the wiring project in the San Marino area is in full effect. It is a complex infrastructural project that combines public and private to offer all users an extremely advanced, safe and efficient technology which, upon completion, can boast of being among the first and over the entire country. “
Pier Giovanni Terenzi (COTES Sole Director): “In recent years we have tried to carry out a project that we believe to be of the highest level and that projects us into the future, a future in which the need of the individual citizen will be to have an ever wider band at his disposal . In San Marino we will already be active. We are a San Marino company and we are proud to be able to carry out this project in our country. “
Raoul Chiaruzzi (AASS Director): “What we are building is a public infrastructure at the service of citizens, I urge them all to use it.”
