Fuels. ISP dropped, but Portugal continues to pay the most taxes – Money
The Government lowered the ISP for gasoline by 2 cents, but taxes continue to represent more than 60% of the price. Portugal is one of eight countries in Europe where, for every liter of gasoline, more than one euro is taxed.
To anticipate the 36th rise in the price of packages since the beginning of the year, the Government announced last week a reduction in the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) by two cents for simple 95 gasoline and one cent for simple diesel. But not even with the description of the taxons Portugal does not have one of the most expensive prices in Europe. With the move, the ISP of diesel went from being the fifth highest in Europe to being the sixth. Gasoline in Portugal has the 7th largest ISP – it was the sixth before the discount of two cents.
Currently, Portugal has the 7th most expensive gasoline in Europe, with a price of around €1.71 / L for single 95 Gasoline, while diesel is the 12th most expensive, with an average price of 1, €51 / L, both above the European Union average – by 20 cents for gasoline and around 6 cents for diesel.
