Cesena returns second with 2-1 over Pontendera
The Pesaro stumbling block did not remove the Cesena the desire to run and everything is already as before. The 2-1 on the bogged down Pontedera – 3rd knockout in a row – immediately returns the second place to the bianconeri, facilitated by the clash at the top between Reggiana and Ancona: after passing the Marche, there is no longer anyone between the team from Viali and the Regia, at the top of +3.
In addition to the two goals, there are also for Cesena two crossbars of Ardizzone, the first already at 7th with a great right from a distance. And immediately after here is the advantage, a cross from Favale on which Bortolussi crosses head and bags with the side of the pole. And the 4th center in the last four for the top scorer of the last tournament, definitively freed from the difficulties of the beginning of the championship. Pontedera tries to reply with Caponi’s corner for Espeche – with Favale rejecting the line – and with Magnaghi’s attempt from outside, not too far out. But it is still Cesena to hit: Rigoni receives from Pierini, breaks through Shiba and concludes on Angeletti, on the rebound Bortolussi is stopped by Caponi but the ball remains there, good for the doubling of Tonin.
With the recovery comes the second Ardizzone wood, which hits the crossroads by towering over Pierini’s corner: on the rebound Gonnelli is ready to close it, but his turn is bad and flies over the mirror. And again Pierini’s heel to trigger Favale who starts on the left, passing Perretta’s mark but not Angeletti’s reflex. So the Pontedera, already made alive with the high conclusion of Catanese, shortens: corner of Caponi, Nardi comes out empty and Magnaghi stands out for its 6th goal, which makes him top scorer like Rolfini and Sereni. Toscani still pushing with another conclusion just outside – this time by Benedetti – while for the Cesena side of Tonin for Caturano, Espeche and Perretta close. The rest are the attempts of Caponi and Mattioli on which Nardi does not risk the grip and rejects, too little to stop the Bianconeri from returning to the top of Reggiana’s pursuers.
