Caleb Ewan: “I would like to win Milan-San Remo once”
Six victories, retirements on the Grand Tours (Giro and Tour de France), 2nd of Milan-San Remo… the 2021 season of Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) leaves a taste of unfinished business. Despite good results, the 27-year-old Australian has not been repeated his performance from last year when he imposed his dominance in the sprints. The Sydney native is now looking ahead to the next season. “I don’t know my program yet and we need to discuss it with the sports management“, he explains to In Leiderstrui.

“I have already been twice close to victory there …”
Even if he does not yet know his program for next season, Caleb Ewan is aiming for a race in priority: Milan-San Remo where he obtained 2nd place twice (2018 and 2021). “I have been close to victory twice already there and I would obviously like to win once. I am dying to be. In addition, Philippe Gilbert will also probably be at the start. He can be the ideal second leader and keep me out of the wind. And if I’m not having a good day, he can finish the job. I am also very happy that my sprint train has been stepped up“, concludes the runner of Lotto Soudal.

Lelangue: “I can’t say that 2021 was a good season for us …”
In comments reported by the RTBF, Jean Lelangue, general manager of the Belgian training, took stock of his team, notably by evoking the bad luck of his sprinter Caleb Ewan. “I can’t say 2021 was a good season for us. We have certainly been looking for some great victories with Caleb Ewan in particular, but above all we have also had a lot of bad luck. Among other things, because of numerous falls. And not just Ewan’s, whom we lost very early on in the Giro where he had already won two stage wins. There would have been four more possibilities for him.“
