The musicians of the Helsinki City Orchestra will perform in Helsinki libraries in November
Chamber music Presented at the 16th Helsinki Library in November. Concerts of the Helsinki City Orchestra organized by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and the Helsinki City Library on your Your Library tour are free of charge.
The library tour concerts are about half an hour long and feature musicians from the city orchestra in small chamber music ensembles. The chamber music collaboration between the Helsinki City Orchestra and the Helsinki City Library began last year, when the library celebrated its 160th anniversary. The event continues now, and the orchestra’s library tour is made an annual tradition.
“The feedback from both the townspeople and our orchestra’s musicians was clear last year: the atmosphere at the library concerts was special and warm. We are happy to continue organizing these encounters around Helsinki. I hope as many residents as possible find their way to these little concerts,” says Aleksi Malmberg, President of the Helsinki City Orchestra.
The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in Your Library tour starts on Monday 1 November at the South Hague Library. The last concert of the tour will be on Thursday, November 25 at the Oulunkylä Library. Concerts lasting about half an hour begin at noon or 6 p.m. The tour allows easy access to high-quality chamber music concerts for Helsinki residents at their local library.
“Libraries are places close to people where not only literature but also music and other culture meet. The Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra’s chamber music tour in libraries is a great addition to the districts’ vibrant cultural offerings,” says Katri Vänttinen, Director of the Library, City of Helsinki.
