About fifteen demonstrators gathered in front of the Burger King on Sainte-Catherine Street to denounce the conditions of chicken farming
“Hear it BK! Two subjects are not debated: we say chocolatine and your chickens live a hell ”, could one read on the signs of the militants of the association L214, this Saturday, October 17 at noon. About fifteen demonstrators protested in front of the Burger King restaurant on Sainte-Catherine Street.
In the midst of passers-by, the collective denounces the conditions of breeding and slaughtering chickens deemed “maddening” explains Gaëlle Lachiver, referent of the L214 Bordeaux branch.
Welcomed by a red carpet flocked with the inscription “welcome to the realm of cruelty”, some customers nevertheless venture into the restaurant. Yet they are not the ones targeted by the association.
“We are not trying to make customers feel guilty, we are addressing the Burger King headquarters,” continues Gaëlle Lachiver.
As part of a coordinated action in around thirty cities, L214 asks the fast-food giant to commit to changing its practices. “KFC and Subway did it in 2021. They agreed to use 20% of chickens raised in the open air and to modify their slaughter methods”, indicates the referent of the Bordeaux branch.
