the manufacturers present and absent
The Milan show (EICMA) is approaching. It will be held from November 25 to 28, 2021. If this major event marks its return after the cancellation of 2020, will it see all the major manufacturers return? We take stock.
The health crisis got the better of the 2020 edition of the EICMA fair in Milan. If the organizers of the Italian show, within the reach of world distribution, had hoped to maintain it for the fall of 2020, they had to very quickly give it up. Organizer such an event requires to block certain aspects, to pay a deposit for the occupancy of the huge exhibition center of the city of Milan (Fiera RHO Milano) and therefore the request for firm commitments to exhibitors, builders and equipment. Some major manufacturers threw in the towel very quickly and faced with the too slow improvement in the health situation, it was therefore necessary to cancel the Milan 2020 show altogether.
This situation has enabled national initiatives, such as of the first virtual motorcycle show that we organized to organize this absence. And it was a success beyond the imperfections that can be experienced in any “first”.
For 2021, the health situation has improved and we must also recognize that we have learned to live with Covid-19. Also, the events behind closed doors give way to a return to normalcy and the same return of visitors, a key health issue, among other protective measures.

Note, the Geneva Motor Show 2022 has announced its cancellation … and other shows could be canceled again in 2022.
