Portugal registers 777 new cases and six deaths in the last 24 hours
According to the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS released today, 321 people are hospitalized, 14 less than on Wednesday, of which 56 intensive care units, plus two in the last 24 hours.
Of the registered deaths, three occurred in the Lisbon region, two in the Center and one in Alentejo.
Four of the deaths obtained over 80 years and two between 70 and 79 years.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, 18,071 people have died in Portugal and 1,077,963 cases of infection have been registered.
The greatest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (11,787), followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old (3,869).
Of the total number of deaths registered to date, 9,481 in Portugal were men and 8,590 women.
The data released by the DGS also show that 43 more cases are active, for a total of 30,077, and that 728 people were reported as recovered from covid-19 in the last 24 hours, or that the national total increases to 1,029,815 recovered.
In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance by the health authorities dropped (down from 99), standing at 21,586.
The new coronavirus has already infected in Portugal at least 578,984 women and 498,241 men, according to data from the DGS, according to which there are 738 cases of unknown sex, which were investigated under investigation, since this information is not automatically intelligent.
Among the new infections stand out as age groups from 20 to 29 years (over 145), from 10 to 19 (over 101),
from 40 to 49 years old (over 100), followed by 50 to 59 years old (over 93), from 30 to 39 (over 89), from 0 to 9 years old (over 80), from over 80 years old (over 68), from 60 to 69 years old (over 63) and from 70 to 79 years old (over 38).
In the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 262 new infections were reported, with 416,397 cases and 7,702 dead so far in this geographic area.
The Northern region registered 178 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totaling 412,878 cases of infection and 5,579 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic crisis.
In the Center region, 179 more cases were registered, totaling 144,316 infections and 3,162 deaths.
In Alentejo, 93 new cases of infection were reported, totaling 39,656 infections and 1,039 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the Algarve region, today’s DGS bulletin counts 34 new cases, accumulating 43,228 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 473 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded 12 new cases, totaling 12,419 infections and 72 deaths due to the covid-19 disease since March 2020.
In the last 24 hours, and according to DGS, the Azores registered 19 new cases, which raises to 9,069 infections since the beginning of the pandemic and 44 deaths due to the disease.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information published in the DGS bulletin.
Covid-19 has caused at least 4,870,405 deaths worldwide, among more than 239 million infections with the new coronavirus registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the most recent report by the Agence France-Presse.
The respiratory disease is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China, and currently with variants identified in several countries.
