The government wants to pull Norway out of GO-China
This summer, the European Commission presented its plan on how the union will be able to cut emissions by 55 percent in 2030 meals to 1990 levels, where, among other things, other guarantees of origin are imposed and a key role.
In Norway, guarantees of origin are very important for the power industry, as it provides the industry with billions in revenue annually. The industry is critical, because it believes it dilutes the advantage Norwegian industry has of being located in a country with high renewable power production.
Both LO and Norsk Industri confirmed earlier this month that they are working to have the scheme removed.
A Norwegian withdrawal from the guarantee of origin market can have a major impact on the market, as Norway is a large producer of GOs that are sold to Europe.
