Genoa: Intesa Sanpaolo promotes crowdfunding for social inclusion at the Cep and Cornigliano
The fundraiser in support of the project “Sì per il Cep – combating exclusion in the periphery” is active on For Funding, Intesa Sanpaolo’s crowdfunding platform.: the goal is to raise 140,000 euros in the next three months to be used to combat school exclusion and the isolation of young people and minors in two districts of Genoa, Centro Edilizia Popolare (cep), the largest popular suburb of the city with over 10,000 inhabitants, e Cornigliano, headquarters of the steel mills and close to the port shipbuilding industry, which has welcomed a large part of the Genoese working class since the beginning of the twentieth century.
characterized by a strong popular urbanization and by buildings that recall its industrial and agricultural past, the Genoese Ponente was marked, starting from the Eighties, by the crisis in the steel sector and the end of the construction boom. Even today it suffers serious repercussions caused by the increase in unemployment and the progressive abandonment, however on more than one occasion its community has shown that it has the strength and the ability to respond, activating social projects dedicated to the youngest and their future, supported by associations and citizens.
The “Yes to the Cep-Contrast to Exclusion in the Periphery” project, created by the Cesvi Foundation in collaboration with Agorà Società Cooperativa Sociale, engaged in Genoa since 1995 in socio-educational actions and assistance, protection and reception of the most vulnerable people, it aims to increase and improve the offer of educational, playful and recreational proposals with the support of professional educators and territorial animators, to counteract the individual isolation and consolidate community membership. The resources collected will be destined to modernize and enhance aggregative, cultural, educational and training spaces, where to organize and strengthen more and more activities dedicated to children, teenagers, young people and families: the Firpo library, managed by several associations; the Zenit center for minors, which organizes recreational and educational events; the Pianacci consortium with its sports area and facilities that host initiatives and events for everyone; the Arciragazzi Prometeo club which deals with youth rights, games and activities.
The project is also committed to combating the problems of early school leaving and educational poverty widespread among adolescents: in collaboration with the Cornigliano Work Education Center and the Agorà Cooperative, children who interrupt their schooling or need support training will be involved in accompaniment and job training courses, for example through orientation courses, skills certification, craft workshops and meetings with companies.
The initiative will directly involve at least 200 children (6-10 years) and 100 boys (11-14 years), of the CEP; and 50 adolescents and young people aged 15-29 from the Cep and Cornigliano districts. The repercussions also on families and in general on the resident population, which already frequent the structures of the Firpo neighborhood library and the Pianacci aggregative-sports area – no less than 500 users – and who will therefore benefit from the improvement interventions.

«With this important project – he declares Andrea Perusino, regional director of Southern Piedmont and Liguria of Intesa Sanpaolo – our social ambition is to bring the reality and economic situation of the Genoese West “to the center”, investing in the future of young people: together with our customers, and also with those who are not customers, we can take concrete action against educational poverty and the social isolation of children, and organize workshops and activities to accompany them in the world of work. With the Formula initiative, we want to build an ideal bridge between generations, supporting projects dedicated to children, adolescents, families and the elderly with particular attention to situations of greatest fragility. Intesa Sanpaolo confirms its vocation as a bank sensitive to social issues and the specificities of the territories in which it operates. Even at the local level, we express our role as leader in inclusion, sustainability and environmental protection initiatives. “
Formula is the new crowdfunding program for the territories launched by Intesa Sanpaolo in collaboration with the Cesvi Foundation and accessible from For Funding, the fundraising platform of the Group, in 2020 in first place in our country among the “donation and reward” platforms with donations that reached the record figure of 10 million euros.
Formula’s objective in the current year is to promote over 30 initiatives throughout the Italian territory, to identify with the involvement of the Bank’s regional departments and dedicated to environmental sustainability, social inclusion and access to the labor market for people in difficulty.
Intesa Sanpaolo has selected the Cesvi Foundation as its partner, to identify the best projects and monitor the results and the impact generated in a safe and transparent way.
The program is renewed every quarter with a series of Green, Social and Job themed projects activated throughout Italy and designed to support children, young people, families and the elderly in conditions of fragility: all many initiatives launched in October, such as the one for Genoa is joined by the 20 projects for which fundraising has already been completed, now underway thanks to the collaboration of all those who have already donated.
Crowdfunding is open to all citizens, customers and non-customers of the bank, who can donate online and through the ATM, benefiting from tax deductibility. Intesa Sanpaolo supports the various projects by allocating one euro for many of the products purchased by customers online, with the dual objective of increasing the fundraising and digital literacy of customers, and making its own donations through the various companies of the group.
