Portugal becomes Transavia’s second market with 26% increase in seats – Executive Digest
Transavia France announced that it will increase its offer of seats by 26% between France and Portugal in the summer of next year, compared to 2019. With this strategy of the French company, Portugal becomes Transavia’s second market, ex-aequo with France and just behind Spain in capacity.
“After a very disruptive period, which lasted more than 1.5 years, Transavia managed to reorganize its operation and gradually resume its activity. As a historical and strategic market for a global operation, Portugal is one of the best examples of this recovery”, explains Nicolas Hénin, Commercial director of Transavia France.
Between March 27 and October 29, 2022, the low-cost airline of the Air France-KLM Group will make 11 million seats available, a measure made possible by the investment in the fleet, which grows from 40 aircraft this year to 61 in April of 2022.
In the note, the executive recalls how the company recovered from the limitations imposed by the pandemic: “Despite the presence of the Delta variant and the restrictions, we transported around 290,000 passengers between France and Portugal, with an occupancy rate of 93% in September (equivalent to pre-pandemic rates) and with Lisbon (#1) and Funchal (#4) in the top-5 destinations by volume at peak season”.
The company also announced that it will expand its offer to Portugal with the opening of the new Ponta Delgada – Paris-Orly route.
