SALZBURG. 211 athletes from four nations – Austria, Germany, Italy and Romania – fought for victory at the 37th International Generali Swimming Meeting in Salzburg / Rif on the weekend. There were also 15 athletes from SV FK Spittal.
42 personal bests
Great performances were offered. In the end, SV FK Spittal celebrated 22 podium places, including seven class wins by the only 11-year-old Lilly Gelbmann (4) and 16-year-old Rebecca Kretz (3) as well as 42 personal bests in 81 individual starts! Lilly Gelbmann won in her age group over 50 meters chest, 100 meters medley, as well as 50 meters and 200 meters freestyle. Rebecca Kretz was top in her age group in the 100 and 200 meters freestyle as well as 100 meters back.
In the top field
There were also podium places for the Upper Carinthian swimmers Marijana Jelic, Leon Trattler, Hannes Stirling, Mate Kerekes and the 4×50 meter relay (Rebecca Kretz, Kathleen Genser, Marijana Jelic and Carina Bodner). You don’t have to worry about swimming in (Upper) Carinthia. Coach Alexandre Deblaise sums it up with satisfaction: “Kretz, Jelic, Gelbmann, Stirling, Kerekes, Trattler showed with top performances. There were many personal bests and, as a bonus, limits for the Austrian championships!” December 5th in Graz / Eggenberg.
Detour to Budapest
The second round of the Swimming World Cup 2021 took place in Budapest. Among others, Mark Horvath from Feldkirchen (SV FK Spittal) was there. The 17-year-old competed in four competitions and showed strong performances: Horvath on the short course over 50 and 100 meters butterfly in 24.82 seconds (26th place) and 53.88 seconds (17th place) each personal best.

The youngster even swam over 200 meters butterfly to the final. 2: 00.30 minutes meant 8th place in the end. Horvath was also at the start in the 200 meter freestyle (34th place). Horvath collected a total of 2,797 World Cup points within three days of competition.
