After victories at Bayer Leverkusen and Preußen Münster, VfB Waltrop’s U15s scored another three away. Kristiyan Vasilev scored the golden goal in a 1-0 win at Viktoria Köln.
The U15 juniors of VfB Waltrop started bravely at Viktoria Köln. Before the duel, the home side are two points behind Waltrop (9 p.) In eighth place in the table.
The team of Oliver Naumann, Sven Jahn, Mehmet Tosun and Tim Kuit worked out their first chances. In the 12th minute, the Waltroper had the scream on their lips, but Loris Gashi only hit the inside post, from which the ball bounced back into the field. Two minutes later, Kyam Mamadou narrowly failed, as did Kristiyan Vasilev in the 17th minute.
The home side – who had a goal difference of 4: 2 before this match day – drove two or three counterattacks in the first 35 minutes, but they had no charisma. The Waltropers only held their breath for a short while with a long-range shot because goalkeeper Ahmad Kalut was standing too far in front of the goal. But the ball passes.
The Waltropians continued their power football in the second half. Two offside goals were whistled back, and Cologne’s goalkeeper shone between the posts. “He’s the best goalkeeper I’ve seen this season,” said Oliver Naumann appreciatively.
In the 41st minute, however, he couldn’t change anything about the fact that Waltrop took the lead. Kristiyan Vasilev was spot on on a cross: He headed the ball to the post, but this time it went into goal – unlike in the first half with Loris Gashi.
In the period that followed, Viktoria, who had lost the Cologne city derby to “EFFZEH” a week earlier, tried to act more aggressively. But apart from a long-range shot in the last minute of the game that missed the target, Waltrop’s third away win was no longer in danger.
It continues for VfB Waltrop, who is now fifth in the table in Regionalliga West, Season 2, on October 30th with the home game against 1. FC Köln, who played 1-1 against Hombrucher SV on Saturday and ten points behind VfB Waltrop (12) ranked in the table.
