Portugal wins all four competitions at the FEPA Padel European Championship
Not one, not two, not three, but four trophies: Portugal dominated completely in the second edition of the European Padel Championship organized by FEPA (European Padel Federation) and said goodbye to Bilbao with all possible titles in a competition that did not was attended by the vast majority of sports figures in the old continent and which is not recognized by the International Padel Federation (FIP), which organized the “traditional” European Championship in June / July (the Portuguese Padel Federation chose not to participate).
If in the morning how victories smiled the Margarida Fernandes / Kátia Rodrigues and Vasco Pascoal / Miguel Oliveira, who won the doubles competitions, throughout the day the journey unfolded with the victories that earned the national team the titles in the women’s and men’s team competitions.
In the women’s competition, Portugal won the title by defeating the Basque Association of Padel (Spain chose not to participate in the competition, as did France and Italy, for not agreeing with the creation of FEPA) with the help of the two best paddlers in the parents , Sofia Araujo and Ana Catarina Walnut, who joined the Portuguese delegation this Saturday, a day after losing in the quarter-finals of the Menorca Open, in the Spanish Balearic Islands. The first lined up next to Leninha Medeiros, with whom he defeated Adriana Barrena and Berea Olano by 6-3 and 6-2, and the second joined efforts with Filipa Mendonça, alongside who triumphed 6-1 and 6-3 against Cristina Gonzalez and Aizpurua Juncal.
In the men’s tournament, the Portuguese triumph was built with a twist, as Diogo Rocha and Nuno God missed the inaugural meeting with Pedro Echarri and Joseba Diego by 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3. Vasco Pascoal and Miguel Oliveira tied a final, winning Borja Nieto and Gonzalo Franco by 6-1 and 6-2, and no decisive duel Peu Araújo and Afonso Farmer conquered the turning point by getting the better of ruby joel and Pablo Cuesta by the partials of 6-3 and 6-4.
