Higher CoV vaccination quota required for winter season

The spokesman for the Salzburg cable car industry, Erich Egger, calls for more information on the CoV vaccination. A halfway normal winter season will depend significantly on a higher vaccination rate, said Egger.
16 million overnight stays in peak seasons and three billion euros in added value – winter tourism is an indispensable cornerstone for Salzburg’s economy. The de facto total failure of the last winter season was all the more bitter, says the board of the Schmittenhöhe-Bahnen in Zell am See and spokesman for the Salzburg cable car industry, Erich Egger.
In order for the recent lockdowns to be finally averted, it must be possible to significantly increase the vaccination rate, says the cable car spokesman. Specifically, Egger demanded: “The vaccination efforts need to be stepped up even more and, moreover, work must be geared towards the target group – for example via social media. Well-known personalities should also be called in to speak to young people so that they can be vaccinated. “
Egger: “Politics need more courage”
In a pandemic with such far-reaching economic effects, politicians need more courage to make clear decisions, adds Egger.
When asked about the gastronomy in the ski areas, Egger can also imagine stricter regulations: “For me, access to the hut is only conceivable for people who have been vaccinated or with a confirmation of recovery. We need this solidarity with one another so that we can finally get out of this damned pandemic. ”Egger warns that the tourism businesses would no longer be able to cope economically with another total failure of the winter season.
