Merit mark of the state of Salzburg to Arno Kleibel and Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal «Main Association of the Austrian Book Trade
The publisher Arno Kleibel and the head of the Rupertus bookstore Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal yesterday, October 5th, each received a medal of merit from the state of Salzburg. The eulogy held the eulogy Birgit Müller-Wieland.
Deputy Governor Heinrich Schellhorn presented Arno Kleibel, publisher of Otto Müller Verlag since 1986, and Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal, head of Rupertus Buchhandlung since 2005, on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, each with a medal of merit from the state of Salzburg and a certificate signed by the governor for outstanding services to the Reputation of the state of Salzburg. The award ceremony takes place in the courtyard of the Rupertus bookstore.
From the laudation by Birgit Müller-Wieland: “Perhaps their constant commitment is rooted in more than the joy of literature and everything related to it. Perhaps this commitment also has to do with a special sense of responsibility. A sense of responsibility in the sense that you are part of a society, have to worry about people or things that cannot thrive on their own without active help. (…) Nourishing processes inherent in writing literature would be impossible without those who tirelessly bring books to people. If one understands ‘approaching’ as a synonym for ‘providing something with essentials’, the term ‘food chain’ is close to referring to the connection between those who write, those who die, turn a manuscript into a book, those who sell it. An organic cycle – next autumn. (…) A literary life in Salzburg, in Austria, in the German-speaking area is inconceivable even without Arno Kleibel and Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal. “
“I accept this appreciative award with joy and gratitude: for my work as a publisher, which is more to me than a job – it is indicative of my passion for literature. And I am particularly pleased that the recognition from the State of Salzburg comes from the surrounding area, because this is precisely what is difficult to achieve, ”thanks him Arno Kleibel.
“I am very happy about this award with the Merit Sign of the State of Salzburg! I see this both as a personal appreciation for my work, but also as recognition for many other booksellers in this country. Our job contributes a lot to the promotion of reading and cultural diversity ”, so Klaus Seufer-Wasserthal.
The Badge of Merit, a badge of honor of the State of Salzburg, is awarded by the Salzburg State Government according to the Salzburg Badge of Honor Act for outstanding services to the reputation of the State of Salzburg in areas that are acquired through public or private work; Levels awarded.
