Teams
The 16 teams participating in Six Major will consist of the four best teams in each of the Pro Circuit regions:
- Top four from ongoing North American League
- Top four from ongoing European League
- Top four from the Elite Six Cup LATAM tournament which takes place from 12-17 October
- The two winners of APAC North and APAC south Leagues and the two best from the APAC playoffs that take place from October 18-20
Only one team has locked in place in Sweden Major so far with a higher probability of qualifying in the coming week:
- Spacestation Gaming – Skys, Rampy, Bosco, Fultz, Hotancold, Lycan (head coach), sov (assistant coach) and Luke (analyst)
Should an Australian team qualify for the event, it is still quite unlikely that they will be able to participate due to Australia’s covid-related travel restrictions which have already prevented Wildcard Gaming from participating in SI21 and the Knights from participating in Mexico Major. In this case, they would be awarded $ 5000 and 50 SI points corresponding to the end in last place.
Location and schedule
Place
The upcoming major will take place in the small town of Gävle in Sweden and will have no audience at the event.
This event was originally planned to be in the Asia-Pacific region with leaks indicating another Japanese event, but this could not happen due to international covid restrictions.
Schedule
The event will take place on November 8-14 with the same format and schedule as August’s Six Mexico Major:
Here, the 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four that will compete in a double-round-robin, Best-of-One (Bo1) format. After this, the top two teams in each group will advance to a BO3 map elimination round followed by a BO5 map final.
Prize pool and SI points
The net prize pool for this major will be in line with previous Mexico and Raleigh events at $ 500,000. In addition, six invitation points (SI) will be offered to all 16 teams.
Below are the confirmed SI points and prize money:
- 1st place – $ 200,000 and 375 SI points
