Portugal is the sixth country in the European Union with the most expensive criteria
Portugal is the sixth country in the European Union with the most expensive criteria. If you cross the border into Spain, you will find petrol 22 cents per liter cheaper and diesel 12 cents lower.
If compared to data from a year ago, the difference is visible. In October 2020, a liter of diesel cost 1 euro and 23 cents. This Tuesday it was, on average, 1 euro and 53 cents, or 30 cents more per liter. Gasoline a year ago cost 29 cents less per liter.
More than half of what is paid is taxes, but the Government has already said that it will not change.
The price of gas and electricity has also risen in recent days.
A 12 and a half kilo butane gas cylinder, the most used for domestic use, cost 23 euros and 87 cents a year ago. This week it sells, on average, at more than 26 euros, a difference of more than 2 euros per cylinder.
The end of last week was marked by the rise in the price of electricity in the regulated market in Portugal, which may lead to expectations for increases for next year in the free market, where most families are located.
This is because wind and rain have not favored the production of renewable energy. For this reason, production in Europe is mainly carried out in plants that use natural gas.
