VIII ACIP Contest – The Best Cake King of Portugal has open entries until the 25th of November
The VIII ACIP Competition – “The Best King Cake in Portugal” takes place on the 28th of November, at Quinta do Outeiro, in Tentúgal, Coimbra. The main objective of the Contest is to reward, promote, value and publicize the Portuguese king cake.
Enrollments in this initiative of the ACIP – Association of Trade and Industry of Bakery, Pastry and Similar Products can be done until the 25th of November 2021, filled in an application form, available on here.
The competition is open to all king cake producers who demonstrate that their product continues to follow the traditional method of production, in accordance with the regulation (see here)
The objective of this action is “to motivate producers to continue to respect production methods, such as recipes and the use of genuine ingredients, which allows maintaining quality and its typicality”, as well as promoting the genuine Portuguese Reis Cakes and enabling the enhancement of products associated with the Christmas season.
The following categories are permissible:
➢ King Cake
➢ Queen Cake
➢ Scabbed King Cake
➢ Christmas braid
➢ Innovation Award – This category includes all products in the competition that, due to their innovation and creativity, do not fit under the previous names.

The VIII ACIP Contest – “The Best King Cake of Portugal”, will take place in the morning of November 28, with the delivery of the products, between 8 am and 10 am, and the blind tasting, between 10 am and at 13 o’clock. Afterwards, a lunch will be served and the announcement of the winners will be scheduled for 15 hours.
In this VIII Edition, an ACIP was “concerned about bringing together personalities from various sectors of society that will be part of the Jury Panel, as it is our conviction that only in this way will we achieve a differentiating, innovative and prestigious approach to an event that is intended to be a reference. no sector”.
