Turkish yachts in the Mediterranean – In Athens today the Foreign Minister
A climate of tension in the Eastern Mediterranean, focusing on the Cypriot EEZ, is trying to create Ankara, in view of the resumption of research activities in the sea area of the Republic of Cyprus.
At the same time, estimates in Greece and Cyprus indicate that Turkey’s new offensive mood is not bad with the recent signing of the defense agreement in Paris between the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and the French President, Emanuel Macron. The Turkish Government has severely disturbed not only the provision of modern weapons systems in Greece concerning the French Belharra frigates, with the needs – according to analysts – but the balances, but also with the content of the agreement which provides for its assistance. from one country to another in the event of an attack by a third country.

In this context, and in anticipation of the arrival of the Nautical Geo vessel for works in the framework of the route that will follow the route of the East Med pipeline, the Turkish Government proceeded with the issuance of NAVTEX, disputing the area of investigations. At the same time, the Turkish government is trying to challenge the areas in which in November it will resume the companies’ research activities on the plots within the Cyprus EEZ. Estimates lead to the conclusion that Turkey will try to restore Erdogan’s proposal for an international conference on the Eastern Mediterranean by creating tension.
The Turkish actions were accompanied by incendiary statements by a representative of the country’s Ministry of Defense. As he claimed, since the beginning of 2021, Greece has committed 1,989 parables against the demilitarized regime of the islands with military naval and air vehicles, while regarding Cyprus, he stressed that Turkey will continue to be a guarantor power.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Christodoulidis, is being transferred to Athens today for contacts with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendia.
In the context of the pension, there will be an exchange of views, among other things, on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue, especially after the recent meeting in New York, and on the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the light of new Turkish challenges and images.
